Are you someone with a passion for health, who wants to help more young Australians get active?
Do you enjoy engaging with kids and young people and want to support them in learning new skills and developing healthier behaviours?
Work for a health and sustainability-driven for-purpose organisation with over 35 years of experience!
Great salary + 6 weeks annual leave + bike packaging + Bicycle Network membership + MORE!
We believe in liveable places where people are physically active - that's why we make it easier to ride a bike.
About Bicycle Network
Bicycle Network believes that physical activity & sustainable transport is vital for a happy, healthy community – that’s why we make it easier for everyone to ride a bike. We support and service the needs of nearly 50,000 members, thousands of event participants and the general bike riding community across Australia.
We're pedalling hard to build a nation of bikes riders and are specialists in delivering behaviour change programs in schools. We have an exciting opportunity for a Ride2School Coordinator to join our team, based from our Melbourne CBD office!
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a warm and engaging Ride2School Coordinator to help us deliver our amazing Ride2School program. You’ll play a core role in delivering the state’s largest bike education program. You will work with a team of coordinators and multiple other stakeholders to move towards happier, healthier, and less congested communities.
You will need to be comfortable inside a school setting as a facilitator conducting bike related activities as well as working together with a team to work towards program metrics set out by government funding.
Our team of coordinators travel to various schools around the state, and it is important our Ride2School Coordinator is comfortable with some long days of travel, as well as occasional overnight stays around Victoria.
You’ll enhance our team through:
Ride2School Program Delivery
You’ll be supporting the rest of the Ride2School team with implementing our initiatives like Bike Education and ActiveMaps, and you’ll lend a hand in the day-to-day running of the Ride2School program.
Student Engagement
Our success is measured in active student rates, so you’ll be in charge of understanding the best ways to get students riding, scooting, skating, or walking to school. This includes our Ride2School social media presence, building and maintaining relationships with teachers and parents, and visiting schools at every opportunity.
Program Evaluation and Development
We’re always looking for ways to learn and improve so you’ll be continuously monitoring and evaluating our programs, raising the bar and supporting new initiatives in-line with our 2-Year Ride2School Strategies.
MIND. BODY. PEDAL Program Implementation
You’ll be overseeing our award-winning behavior change program, MIND.BODY.PEDAL, aimed at empowering and inspiring young people to be more active. As you’ll be working closely with schools and external stakeholders, you’ll be relying on your project management and stakeholder management skills to pull it all together.
Support the Wider Organisation
You’ll work with all the other Bicycle Network teams to help deliver the other programs and activities that make it easier for people to ride bikes every day. It’ll be hands-on, includes some travel and odd hours, but it’s so rewarding!
Success looks like:
The increase in active travel amongst schools participating in the Ride2School Program
The increase in the number of secondary schools committed to the Ride2School Program
The delivery and evaluation of initiatives targeting youth barriers
Contribution to the implementation of program evaluation practices
Our Ride2School Champion is…
Enthusiastic about behaviour change with knowledge in this area or a keen interest in learning;
Strong at stakeholder management and has great organisational skills;
Confident and enjoys engaging a wide audience – the ability to engage with kids and teens is important;
Works well collaborating with a diverse team;
Proactive, motivated, and target orientated;
Punctual and considerate of their awesome team
It is also important that our Ride2School Coordinator has a drivers license, is fully vaccinated against COVID and has or is willing to obtain a WWCC.
While this role is based in our Melbourne CBD office, there are options for hybrid working conditions.
We aim to be committed, honest, inclusive, and progressive in all we do. You don't have to ride but believing in an active future is a must for us!
Bicycle Network is committed to ensuring our team represents the diversity of our community. Women, non-binary people, Indigenous people, people with a disability, young people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
