About Bicycle Network
Bicycle Network believes that physical activity & sustainable transport is vital for a happy, healthy community – that’s why we make it easier for everyone to ride a bike. We support and service the needs of nearly 50,000 members, thousands of event participants and the general bike riding community across Australia.
We're pedalling hard to build a nation of bikes riders and we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Event Manager to join us in our team, based from our Melbourne CBD office!
About the Opportunity
As the Senior Event Manager, you’ll play a core role in bringing some of Australia’s greatest mass-participation bike riding events to life, including United Energy Around the Bay, Peaks Challenge Falls Creek and the Great Top End Escape.
While you'll need to be comfortable leading the planning and delivery of both site and on-road operations, we're not just looking for an operations gun. We also need someone who can lead a high-performing team, build strong relationships with our incredible volunteers, stakeholders and local communities, and had demonstrated experience in event concept development. You'll also work with the wider Bicycle Network team to move towards a healthier, happier and more sustainable community.
How you'll do that:
Build a high-performing team, supporting two reports with management and development.
Plan, develop and deliver event operations that create amazing riding experiences
Play a key role in researching, developing and leading our new events
Build strong, professional relationships with the stakeholders and communities who work with us to make our events a success.
Ensure reporting, risk management and financial management for the events is completed to Bicycle Network's high standards
Anything else that comes up (hey we’re an adaptable organisation that helps each other, so we can’t be constrained by what’s in this ad). Our Event Champion
Is capable of getting the balance right between operations and experience, understands the role and impact of volunteers in our organisation and can take effective action under pressure.
You'll enhance our team with:
Experience leading and managing direct reports and project groups
A level head when juggling competing priorities
As a team player who is resilient, adaptable and unflappable
Commitment to tackle any challenge and passionately pursue our purpose
Honesty and an ability to tell it straight, with tact
Ability to know when to share your expertise and when to learn from others around you
A valid Working With Children Check (or a willingness to obtain);
Full vaccination against COVID-19 (or hold a valid medical exemption); and
While this role is based in our Melbourne CBD office, there are options for hybrid working conditions. Importantly, the role also requires travel both within Victoria and interstate for event planning and delivery, but between us - you get to go to some pretty spectacular places (hello Kakadu!)
Experience within not-for-profits, sports, or health organisations would be beneficial, but are not essential. We aim to be committed, honest, inclusive, and progressive in all we do. You don't have to ride, but believing in an active future is a must for us!
Bicycle Network is committed to ensuring our team represents the diversity of our community. Women, indigenous people, people with a disability, young people, gender diverse people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
