Bike mechanic - Melbourne


A great opportunity exists for a Full Time Bike Mechanic to bring their experience and make their mark in a well established bike shop in Melbourne's North.

Cycle House has been in operation now for 12 years and has a great community of cyclist and loyal customers. Leading brands such as Cervelo, Giant, Cannondale and Focus.

Under new ownership and with a heightened focus in building the service department of the shop. This is a great opportunity for someone to come in and shape the future of the business.

Extremely competitive salary on offer for the right candidate

Primary Purpose:

  • To effectively manage the servicing of all bike servicing and repair requirements within the shop

  • Ordering workshop necessities i.e, parts, accessories, and lubricants

  • Work in conjunction with team members to assess bikes coming in to shop for repair or service and provide relevant quote

  • Communicating with customers and parts suppliers

  • High end bike building including custom work

  • Assisting in processing warranties where needed

  • Help in building a new structure and process for the service department

  • Drive a positive profile for the shop in the area of service

Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in similar role

  • Trade qualification also favorable

  • Current drivers licence

Experience:

  • Previous retail experience as a bike mechanic

  • Up to date with current bike technology - Electronic gearing, E-Bikes etc

  • Experience on shop floor in sales capacity a bonus

  • Dealing with suppliers and manufacturers

  • Preferably someone that rides one or all; Road, Gravel or Mountain bike

Skills:

  • Technical and product knowledge relating to trade

  • Ability to multitask and re-prioritise day to day tasks within a dynamic fast paced retail environment

  • Effective time management skills

  • Previous retail and/or sales experience a bonus

  • Ability to work autonomously

  • Problem solver if faced with challenges

Training:

  • Ongoing short courses to keep up to date with new technology

Equipment used:

  • Tools of the trade provided
