Community Bike Hub is a multifaceted social enterprise developed in collaboration with Local Impact.
The Community Bike Hub services the community in a broad variety of ways: we run a full service retail workshop, an education program teaching basic bike mechanic skills to over 300 students per year, alongside a community volunteer program that contributes to our mission of creating a sustainable and circular economy while funnelling into our donation program providing equitable access to active transport for refugees and asylum seekers.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced bike mechanic to work on a casual basis (min 11hrs p/w) in Melbourne’s west. You will work within a small supportive and dynamic team.You will maintain, repair and upgrade bicycles and bicycle components in order to ensure that they are safe and in good working order. This may involve carrying out regular maintenance and servicing, as well as carrying out repairs to parts and components. You will also be responsible for helping customers select the right parts and components for their needs, ensuring that they are installed correctly and that any modifications are performed safely.
Key duties and Responsibilities
Inspect and diagnose bike issues
Repair and maintain bikes and components
Advise customers on bike maintenance
Carry out routine checks
Diagnose bicycle faults and repairs
Carry out maintenance and servicing of bicycles
Advise customers on bicycle purchases and repairs
